Old fashioned Christmas magic

Old Time Christmas

Christmas has always been a time for gathering, and this year Old Time Christmas returns to J.M. Reidy’s from 4th to 23rd December (closed Sunday 6th). Santa is waiting in our newly redesigned North Stable, ready to meet you and your little ones. While the children are spellbound, settle in with a mulled wine or hot chocolate, and leave with a photograph to treasure. Book your Santa visit below.
A Christmas the way it used to be

Old Time Christmas at J.M. Reidy's

As the nights draw in, J.M. Reidy's is dressed for the season, its windows glowing with garlands, fairy lights, and the same old world charm that's greeted Killarney since the 1870s. Old Time Christmas is our way of bringing that story to life, a season of festive gatherings, familiar faces, and the kind of warmth only a proper old pub can offer.

Is there live music every night at J.M. Reidy's?

Yes. During busier periods, we host live music seven nights a week from around 6pm in our café bar and courtyard, continuing on weekends the rest of the year, with local musicians playing everything from traditional Irish session tunes to contemporary covers.

How can musicians apply with interest to play at J.M. Reidy's?

We’re always looking to work with talented local musicians, from regular slots to impromptu sessions and headline acts on our main stage. Get in touch using the form above and we’d love to hear from you.

How can I catch an impromptu session?

They pop up in the Sweetshop Pub and are very much impromptu, so there’s no telling what you’ll find, a quiet pint on the stool one moment, a lively singalong the next.

What merchandise do you sell?

We offer branded items including apparel, drinkware, and home goods. Browse our full selection on the Shop page of our website.

How do I redeem a voucher?

Vouchers can be redeemed in person at our venue or applied to online orders. Present your voucher code at checkout or give it to your server.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available in various amounts and can be purchased online or in person. They make perfect gifts for any occasion.

What is your delivery policy?

We ship orders within five business days. Delivery times depend on your location. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout.

What's your return policy?

Items can be returned within thirty days of purchase if unused and in original condition. Contact us to arrange a return or exchange.

What types of functions do you host at J.M. Reidy's?

We’re here to celebrate all occasions, from private celebrations like wedding day-twos, milestone birthdays, and anniversaries worth marking, to corporate events like team meet-ups, company-wide celebrations, and MICE groups, and everything in between. Our dedicated team has great experience in event management and will help bring your vision to life, whether you’re planning something small and intimate or a much larger celebration.

What spaces are available to hire?

We offer distinct spaces, each with its own character: the intimate Cocktail Snug, the characterful Cobble Room, the Terrace, which can be extended with the adjoining Glasshouse bar, our fairy-lit Courtyard, complete with its own private bar, and The Stables backyard, also complete with its own private bar. Whatever the size or style of your event, we’ll help you find the space that fits.

We can privatise a single space or combine two or more, depending on what your event needs, so the setting is shaped around your guests rather than fixed in advance.

Is there a hire fee required for the space?

Yes, a hire fee applies, and this varies depending on the date, the spaces required, and your guest numbers. It also includes a few personal touches to make the space your own, like a welcome sign and table signage, Sweetshop sweets, a Guinness ripple on your pints, or a personalised edible topper on your cocktails. Get in touch with our team and we’ll be able to give you an accurate quote for your function.

Is there a deposit required to secure the date and space?

Yes, a deposit of 50% of the hire fee is required to secure your date and space. Once this is paid, your booking is confirmed. If you need to cancel, your deposit is refunded provided we’re notified at least 4 weeks before your function date.

How many guests can you accommodate?

Capacity depends on the space, or combination of spaces, we’ll chat through with you based on your function and guest numbers. As a guide, the Cocktail Snug holds 12 to 18 guests, the Cobble Room up to 40, and the Terrace including the Glasshouse 20 to 60 guests. The Courtyard and The Stables backyard both hold considerably more, and for our largest functions, combining spaces, we can accommodate approximately 250 guests. These are approximate numbers based on a casual setting rather than a formal, seated event. Every function has different needs, so we’ll always discuss the details with you to recommend the best option.

Do you offer food and drink packages for functions?

Yes. For private celebrations, we share a sample of our Functions Menu in the menus section – a selection of homemade options served canapé style on sharing platters, with pricing from €27.50pp for six items. Perfect to be passed around, shared, and enjoyed with friends and family. For private celebrations of more than 80 guests, we also offer a BBQ option at €27.50pp (minimum of 80 guests), a great choice for larger gatherings.

For corporate functions, our menus are bespoke, emphasising quality Irish and seasonal produce, and tailored to your event and guest numbers.

Across all functions, drinks can be included as part of your package too, from mini cocktails and drink ripples on Guinness pints, to edible drink toppers on cocktails, prosecco or wine on arrival, or a tab at the bar, all can be organised to suit your celebration.

Is there a minimum spend on food and drinks packages?

For private functions, we ask that food is ordered for at least 80% of your guest numbers. This helps us schedule the kitchen and resources for your event, and makes sure it’s viable for our kitchen to prepare this menu specifically for your group. Drinks packages are entirely at your discretion, there’s no minimum spend required.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes, we do cater for most dietary requirements and allergies, but please make sure to let our team know when you’re discussing the menu for your function. Our kitchen team are all allergen aware and we take great care in the kitchen, but as with any busy kitchen, we can’t 100% guarantee against traces of nuts or other allergens.

How far in advance should I book?

The earlier, the better. Weekend dates, and dates around busy times like Christmas and bank holidays, are the most in demand, and these can be booked out 6 to 12 months ahead (sometimes even 24 months in advance!). Though we accommodate shorter timelines when possible. We’d always recommend getting in touch as early as possible to help secure the date you have in mind.

What event packages do you offer?

We don’t work from a fixed set of packages, every event is built around what you actually need. Once we know your date, guest numbers, and the type of occasion, whether a private celebration or a corporate function, we’ll put together the right combination of space (used alone or combined), food and drink menus, and entertainment for you. We also have a range of add-ons to choose from depending on the occasion, each of which can be customised to suit your needs and budget. Get in touch with our team and we’ll talk you through the options.

Is entertainment available?

Yes. Throughout the summer months, we host live music sessions seven days a week from about 6pm in our Café Bar and Courtyard, continuing on the weekends for the rest of the year. For your event, you’re welcome to book musicians for earlier in the evening. But please do note the stage can only be privatised if the Courtyard has also been reserved for your function. We keep a list of local traditional and contemporary musicians we’re happy to recommend for your function, though musicians are booked and paid directly by you for this earlier gig.

Do you cater to dietary requirements?

Yes, we do cater for most dietary requirements and allergies, but please make sure to let our team know when you’re ordering. If you have any concerns, please speak to your server before ordering so they can check the details with the chef and kitchen team.

How do you handle allergens?

Every dish on our menus lists its allergens, with a full allergen key at the end for reference. Our kitchen follows strict preventative measures, but as with any busy kitchen, we can’t 100% guarantee against traces of allergens. Please always let your server know of any allergies when ordering so they can check the details with the chef and kitchen team.

Do you have kids' options?

Yes, we have a dedicated Kids Menu for children 12 and under, with a ‘little person’ baby bowl and favourites like grilled beef burger and fries, fish fingers, kids pasta and pork sausages, all made to order. We’ve also have a Sweetshop activity page to keep little ones entertained while they wait for their food.

Can I request custom menu items?

We’re happy to chat through any specific requests or dietary needs to help customise the perfect menu for your event. Contact our bookings team to discuss your requirements.

Do I need a reservation?

We operate on a walk-in basis only, and we do not take reservations for food service. We do our best to accommodate everyone, but during busy periods please expect a 30–40 minute wait to be seated for food. Our Café and bar areas typically have immediate seating where you can enjoy our Café menu or full drinks selection.

What are your opening hours?

Our Café is open everyday from 8am, serving barista-style speciality coffee and brewed tea, freshly baked scones and homemade confectionery treats. Our food menu is available weekdays from 12–6pm and at weekends from 11 am. Our bar is open Monday-Saturday from 10.30am and Sunday from 12.30pm.

GMIB have used the Sheahan group for various occasions over the last 10-15 years. From small dinner meetings to full staff parties of 150 people, they can do it all! Always a seamless experience with no request too big or too small, the standards are top class across Reidy’s, Hilliard’s and Tigh Mary Donal’s. We will continue to book events with the Sheahan group because of the quality of food and service that is provided each and every time. Wishing the Sheahan family and the wider team continued success into the future.

“Our hotel collection is very fortunate to have such a close and efficient working relationship with the Sheahan Group. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and whether it is dinner for two or a large event for 300 clients, we know our guests are in safe hands and will leave with the very best memories. Their communication is clear, timely and transparent, while the execution of everything from intimate dinners to large-scale events is second to none. Most importantly, their flexibility, innovation and continued investment in their offering are what keep our guests returning time and time again. We greatly value the Sheahan Group’s continued support, our shared ethos of quality, exceptional service and strong family values, and the partnership they have built with our collection. We wish them every success for the future and have no hesitation in recommending them.”

"Such a fun experience. So many places to just hang out and relax with a pint. Back patio is awesome to watch a match. We were there during Ryder Cup and so much fun. Didn’t eat there but we were told food is good pub fare."

"The Sheahan Group are always an absolute pleasure to work with. From the very beginning, their team is incredibly supportive and makes the planning of our events seamless and stress-free. Every occasion is a wonderful experience, with exceptional food, a fantastic atmosphere, and hospitality that truly sets them apart. The warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail shown by the staff never go unnoticed, and our guests consistently leave with glowing feedback. We always enjoy our time and look forward to many more visits in the future"

"The excellent service started when I called to book a reservation, they couldn't have been more accommodating. The service was on point, and the food was excellent. After our meal, we stayed to enjoy the live music, danced, laughed, and had a fantastic evening. A must-visit in Killarney!"
